Hanzo Hasashi, Formerly Known As Scorpion
Why a human Scorpion is a good thing for the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Mortal Kombat X is upon us. A good four years after Mortal Kombat 2011, we are once again treated to fatalities, flawless victories and ninjas, gods and other colorful characters. Both new characters and fan favorites return, but it became pretty clear that in the latter category, some things had drastically changed.
This is particularly true for Scorpion, perpetual poster boy for the Mortal Kombat franchise. It already started when the die-hards among the fanbase started to read the prequel comics and noted something quite significant: the yellow ninja had a face where there was previously only a flaming skull and more importantly, he was said to actually be alive again, rather than a wraith as he had been ever since the franchise began.
Of course, such a major change is bound to generate some hatred from the die-hard fans. After all, to some people, this will feel like trying to c

A Believer's Guide To Atheism
A Believer's Guide to Atheism (by an ex-believer now atheist).
So you, our amazing religious protagonist, have recently uncovered that the person currently talking to you is an atheist. How, that depends. Maybe he or she rejected a religious gesture from you. Maybe it came up by an offhand remark. Maybe that person is very much involved with the public image of atheism. Who knows? Either way, it's out. So you either don't care and move on or, as we will discuss here, you feel it's essential to talk about it.
So before you do, stop. Take a deep breath. Let any kind of shock you may feel subside a little. Take a look at that person. Provided they weren't assholes to begin with, they'll still be nice to you. Provided you aren't at a Halloween party or under the influence of mind-altering substances, they probably haven't grown a set of horns and a pointy tail. They're just people and the majority is open for any discussion about their lack of belief. Yet that also means they can ge

Wolves in the Fort
Wolves in the Fort.
Victor Wolcott has spent a lifetime killing. It’s who he is, it’s what he does. He is a doctor, blessed and cursed with a million ways to save a life or end it. He is a Templar soldier, at the front of the battle. He will do whatever he’s asked, whatever he needs to. Morals are applied loosely, if at all and it matters little to him, as long as he will ensure the victory of his brethren.
Yet today, as he’s holed up in the fortress on Rhodes Island that bears his name, a feeling of terror creeps over him. A hint of horror, slithering down his spine, ominous as the ravens that circle over the imposing structure of his hiding place. They foretell of things that lie ahead, terrible things, and even under the gentle spring sun, the world feels cold, as if a portal is opened to the world across the black abyss.
He can sense the presence of Death. Death, the faceless entity that has been a constant presence in his life, a constant companion t

Il Lupo averts his eyes. He has no interest in watching this. He finds no pleasure in watching this. Not for all the gold in the world would he cast an eye upon the spectacle between these four walls.
The absence of his attention shall not be mourned. A hundred other eyes take his place. Countless eyes, filled with desire and appreciation. Filled with lust and anticipation. They eagerly take his place in viewing the scene before them and in turn, they might be the ones to meet their maker instead of him.
Their gaze is set upon the small courtyard, hidden deep within de Castel Sant’Angelo. Their stares transfixed upon a lone figure in the middle. A creature so unlike anything else in this place of excessive grandeur.
Fiora Cavazza dances. She dances with passion and conviction. She dances a foreign dance that is not known to the civilized corner of that is Italy and the limber movements of her swaying body cannot help but catch the attention of all those

Meetings and Misunderstandings In The Homestead: for MuffyMaria.
If there was one thing Ratonhnhaké:ton, better known as Connor Kenway, hated, it were bad people. Of course, and even he himself realized that, “bad people” was a rather broad definition. Ever since the death of the former Templar Order in this country and the death of his mentor, he realized most things weren’t as simple as just “good” and “evil”. People did a number of “evil” things for a variety of reasons, sometimes even for things that could be considered “good” outcomes. Still, that did not mean there weren’t some people he could not give a free pass on their actions. Among those were murderers, rapists, extortionists, liars and thieves.
It was someone of the last category that he was currently chasing. Had done so since this morning. The thief in question had stolen several horses from his stables and apparently also some from a n

It was quiet in Charlestown at two in the morning. This in itself wasn’t exactly surprising. After all, few people would even be up at this hour, even during the scorching hot summer that seemed to plague Boston since the beginning of May. The lack of sunlight had diminished the heat somewhat and this relative relief was sure to keep the citizens of Boston confined to their beds even more than was normally the case.
As such, it was quiet in the warehouse in the northern part of the district. It was a large somber building, used to store metal and wood. Normally, it would be filled with workers trying to move the supply and deliver it to buyers, as contractors struck deals for whatever they needed. Yet now, it was absolutely still and abandoned, aside from the two unusual people who were facing each other in the middle of the large space.
Eleanor Mallow fearlessly watched the young man before her, shoulders back and chin up. She was

Valiance and Love
Valiance and Love
It was a warm evening in the Castello. Of course for Fiora Cavazza, evenings meant errands spent on helping Cesare with chores or delivering messages. Of course this was in her current mind state as she was walking down the hall to get the letters to deliver. However when she opened the door to Cesare's chambers, she saw a fine dressed man wearing many red clothing with a gold necklace and with a gray cape and hood to complete the outfit. Fiora eyes widened as she saw the man near Cesare and Cesare's desk.
"Ah Fiora, I have been meaning to tell you this soon but you were very busy. You see as the threats of the Assassini grows, I cannot have you, get hurt so I found a good man, Il Lupo, to protect to you as you both will go on errands. He is highly trained so then our plans will not be in ruins. Now please take those letters and get to work you two." Cesare said commandingly.
Fiora and Il Lupo bid their farewell and left Cesare's chambers. As they were walking through

Interests
Hey everyone, Ve here.

So...I haven't been on DA for a while. Life calling, mostly.

Anyway, I noticed I've been keeping a lot of useless stuff on my profile, so I'm going to clean it up. I'm probably leaving all the fanfiction for the people who enjoy it, but I can't help but notice how much useless stuff accumulated on my profile through a long period of depression and lack of inspiration. So I'm getting rid of all that stuff. I'm not sure how much I'll be on DA in the future, but I wanna leave stuff there that people can enjoy, not random things.

As for Assassin's Creed fanfiction, I doubt I'll write any in the future. I've kind of been out of touch with the series of alte. Not that I hate it now; it's still far from a terrible series. It's just no longer the game franchise I fell in love with and I no longer feel inspired to write about it. I'll leave that to the many other talented writers around here.

Anyway, time to get to cleaning.

Ve.

Hey Ve, how is it going? I hope you're doing well. After remember seeing your MK posts I decided to buy the game (and it's the first one I have ever played) and I enjoyed it. How do you like the new characters to the game any favorites change? So far I agree with your favorites like Scorpion, Sub Zero, Sonya but my favorite is definitely Kenshi. I love him so much. He is the "nice guy" but always has sarcastic remarks it's hilarious.

Hey, glad I got you into MK. Yeah, Scorpion has improved tremendously in MK. And Kenshi's awesome. He undeservedly gets a lot of flak for being a bad father to Takeda (nevermind that he made the choices he did because they were the lesser evil), but I personally think he's one of the funnier and more interesting characters in the series.

Yes I agree! How do you like the newer generation and other characters? Just curious. Love hearing from you.
And thanks for answering back! I hope everything is going well. I didn't expect you to answer back. :)

I really enjoy the new generation. Cassie is just awesome, so are Takeda and Jacqui (hugely ship Jackeda btw) and I'm also really taken with Jin. I mean, Mortal Kombat put in a gay character and pulled it off well? Holy shit!
